Cyclosure Launch Triathlon-specific Insurance

Cyclosure have announced the launch of triathlon-specific travel insurance to keep triathletes covered while abroad.

Coinciding with the launch, the insurance company revealed a survey indicating 94 per cent of triathletes travel abroad for racing and training, yet almost half don’t realise they’re not insured.

Cyclosure say: “The insurance is designed specifically with triathletes’ needs in mind and with various levels of cover to choose from, it can be tailored to suit all triathletes heading abroad for racing or training, from an annual worldwide policy to a single European trip policy.

“Triathlon is considered an extreme sport, which means most insurance companies will not include triathlon-related activity in their insurance policies, yet 46 per cent of respondents to the recent Cyclosure survey were unaware of this fact with a further 11 per cent not sure whether they were covered or not.

“With the winter training season well underway, many triathletes are heading abroad for warm weather training to maintain fitness levels, and to allow them to enjoy time in the pool, on the bike and on runs. Triathletes need to make sure they, and their kit, are covered for accidents, theft and loss. The survey uncovered that 94 per cent of triathletes and cyclists travel abroad for racing and training at least once a year, yet one in four have never thought about getting travel insurance and 44 per cent don’t know whether they are covered for their activities. Yet 40 per cent state they have come off their bikes while training abroad.
