This top-notch aero helmet has made its presence felt at the Giro d’Italia. And it impressed our testers, too.
This Catlike aero helmet isn’t brand new, but with such a strong pedigree, including a time trial win at the Giro D’Italia, we couldn’t resist testing it. Many of the latest aero lids are full of ground-breaking features, but this one is more basic (but no less effective). It has a particularly narrow side-to-side profile and thin ear-hugging sides, which all help reduce drag, as well as a long tail that’s designed to reduce air turbulence.
It also comes with a clear visor that smoothes the airflow around your face. You can clip it on and off, but it’s not easy to do in a hurry. Neither is putting the helmet on in transition, especially when you’ve got the visor attached. Vents on the front allow a small amount of air to pass over your head, while a ratchet-style tightness adjuster gave a snug and comfortable fit on our testers’ heads.
Fast aero lid that is better-suited to fast time trials than triathlon transitions.
