Speedfil A2 Review
We review the bar-mounted Speedfil A2 hydration system.
This bar-mounted drinks system is already in use in the pro field with Britain’s Emma-Kate Lidbury among the athletes singing its praises. The bottle sits between the tri-bars, a position Cervélo have shown to actually reduce drag by filling the turbulent air between the arms. Although the straw sticking up reduces this benefit, leaning down slightly to take a swig using the drip-free bite valve is easier than grabbing a bottle and tipping it up to drink once you get used to it. You can mount the A2 forwards or backwards to get it in just the right position for you but bear in mind no mounting system is included in the price – though various aftermarket solutions are available. The screw-on lid fits any Specialized type bottle but you’ll need to cut different lengths of internal plastic straw to suit different sizes. The large, sliding cap makes squeezing in a bottle of drink from an aid station really easy while washing the bottle out proved simple too. There were a few issues with the bottle rotating in the cage, so make sure the one you choose holds it tight.
A practical, easy to use and fast drinks system for those into straw-based hydration.
