New Ambassador for Grassroots Triathlon Brand.
UK Triathlon brand, Bonk, believes actions speak louder than words, which is why it supplies and supports a significant number of athletes and coaches at the grassroots of the sport in the UK. Young, up-and-coming pro, Joe Skipper, is the latest athlete to join its team of brand ambassadors.
Joe is hugely talented and has a very bright future in the world of Triathlon. Having spent time as an elite cyclist riding for the BMC team in the UK, he switched his attentions to Triathlon and had a very strong first year of racing in 2011 when he won the National Middle Distance Championships. He backed that up with a hugely impressive season in 2012, featuring a host of top results including 5th place at Ironman UK 70.3 and a superb season ending 5th at Challenge Barcelona where he set the 11th fastest iron distance time ever by a British athlete in 8:23:57.
Joe, currently training in southern Spain, is pinpointing big performances at Challenge-Half Barcelona, Ironman 70.3 UK & Ironman UK in 2013. Of his newly acquired sponsor he says:
‘’I’m really looking forward to working with Bonk as I think they are such a cool company. I am very grateful for having Bonk on board as a sponsor and am looking forward to representing this dynamic label’’
Bonk’s founder Charlie Evans says:
‘’We are really excited to have Joe on board as he very much represents what Bonk is all about. He’s hugely talented, young, energetic, ambitious and has a very bright future in the sport.’’
Bonk has carved out a niche in providing casual wear for the swim, bike, run community. Its ethos revolves around the culture and lifestyle of Triathlon, with a laid-back attitude and cheeky approach, “We are known for taking our sport more seriously than we take ourselves”, says Evans.
The Bonk range of T-shirts, Hoodies and Race accessories includes popular slogans such as ‘I Will Not Bonk’ as well as its mantra ‘Live To Train’, and is available to buy at selected stores in the UK, Canada & New Zealand as well as online at www.bonktriathlon.com.
