Alistair and Jonny Brownlee to take on 14 fellow Olympians in the BBC’s Superstars Christmas special.
Both of the Brownlee brothers will be in action against fellow Olympians including Mo Farah, Lizzie Armitstead, Anthony Joshua, Nicola Adams, Katherine Grainger and Helen Glover for the BBC’s Superstars Christmas special.
The one-off programme will use the same format as the classic 1970s and 1980s show with elite athletes competing across several disciplines and with 10 gold medallists taking part, it’s sure to be a competitive affair.
The show will be hosted by Gabby Logan with Denise Lewis and Iwan Thomas providing their views as pundits.
The eight disciplines include both 100m and 800m events on the track, javelin, a 50m pool swim and archery. There will also be kayaking and a cycling hill climb before a grand finale of challenging gym tests.
Alistair will again be facing off against younger brother Jonny, though he seems more set on family domination than beating his brother, saying: “Let’s see if we can repeat our London 2012 achievements and get two Brownlee brothers on the Superstars podium.”
Farah said: “Superstars is going to be a lot of fun. I’m really looking forward to it. After a hard season it will be nice to compete in a different environment. Some of the events are quite new to me which will make it all the more interesting.”
The programme will be shown as part of the BBC’s Christmas programming.
