The 2013 Bath Half Marathon sells out – but there’s still the chance to enter .
General entries for the 2013 Bath Half Marathon (BATHALF) have sold out early again following a rush of sign ups in the past month.
The race, which takes place on Sunday 3 March next year, saw entries pick up to between 150 and 200 per day throughout November and race organisers predicted that they would sell out by the end of the month.
Andrew Taylor, Race Director from Running High commented: “We have seen a flurry of entries over recent weeks, resulting in all 15,000 available places for the half marathon selling out, but there are still a number of ways you can take part in the event, either through charity Golden Bond places or by entering a team into the Corporate Challenge.
“It’s encouraging that the BATHALF is bucking the downturn in other leisure activities, road running being one of the cheapest participation sports, and underlining the enduring appeal of fitness and charity fundraising in the wider community”.
“I would urge those wanting to take advantage of these final few places to act quickly to avoid disappointment as the remaining entries will become hot property now that general entries have sold out”.
Many charities still have reserved places for the half marathon on offer, including the Lead Charity for next year’s event, CoppaFeel!Full details of the Bath Half’s official charities for 2013 are available on the event website, www.bathhalf.co.uk.
There are also still places left in the annual Corporate Challenge, which proves incredibly popular each year with businesses from across the region and groups of friends or families. Over 100 teams took part this year and this is set to be equalled, if not beaten, in 2013, but you must get your entry in quickly as places for the team event are also limited and they are expected to fill up before the end of November.
For families and beginners, there is the Bath Half Family Fun Run, which also takes place on traffic free roads.
The BATHALF, which never fails to sell out, is the biggest half marathon in the West Country and one of the largest charity fundraising events in the region, supporting over 80 local and national charities each year. The 2012 event raised in excess of £1.5m for good causes and is expected to grow even further in the next few years.
Alongside CoppaFeel!, the official charities for the 2013 event include I CAN, The Forever Friends Appeal and Bath Cats & Dogs Home.
