This deadline means that any athletes that wish to race but have not yet entered, should do so before this date to ensure that they do not miss out.
Ironman UK is held on 22 July 2012 and always attracted an outstanding field of athletes. Taking place in the beautiful North West countryside, the swim starts in Pennington Flash before being followed by a scenic bike course, and a marathon finish in Bolton town centre. The event attracts 25,000 spectators who cheer from the side-lines across the day, and it is as much of an experience for the supporters as it is the athletes themselves.
Kevin Stewart, Managing Director of Ironman UK and Ireland said: “Ironman UK continues to grow each year and we are really looking forward to returning to Bolton this summer. There are a host of incredible people taking part this year, including professional triathletes Stephen and Bella Bayliss, the injured servicemen from Team True Spirit and double Olympian Rebecca Romero MBE. This is a perfect opportunity to race alongside some great sporting legends, and truly inspiring people” he continues, “Ironman UK was also rated as one of the best places in Europe to qualify for a place at the Ironman World Championships in Kona which makes it the perfect race for the competitive age grouper.”
There are other options to enter Ironman UK too. Many athletes choose to combine the challenge of Ironman UK with raising money for good causes and the two official charities Rotary and Scope can still provide access to places in return for raising money on their behalf. Both charities have a number of places still available and can provide a great amount of support for their fundraisers, in the months leading up to, and also on race day itself. There are also a limited number of places available with Ironman UK official travel partner Nirvana Europe who offer full race travel packages for athletes that want to take part. Travelling with Nirvana Europe provides unrivalled support for athletes and is designed to make their racing experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.
