Ironman World Champion Leanda Cave shortlisted for BBC Wales’ Sports Personality of the Year 2012 awards.

Leanda Cave, the only woman to ever win the Ironman World Championship as Ironman 70.3 World Champion has been shortlisted for BBC Wales’ Sports Personality of the Year 2012 awards.

Cave is only one of four athletes on the shortlist who did not take part in the London Olympic or Paralympic Games.

Other potential recipients of the coveted prize include cyclist Geraint Thomas, rower Tom James, taekwondo gold medallist Jade Jones, paralympians Mark Colbourne, Aled Sion Davies and Josie Pearson, rugby union player Dan Lydiate, footballer Gareth Bale and boxer Nathan Cleverly.

Voting lines will open from 08:00 GMT on Monday, 3 December and close at 18:00 GMT on Saturday, 8 December ahead of the ceremony on 16 December at London’s Excel centre.
