On Cloudracer At Triathlon Show
Our first impressions of On’s new racing flat – the Cloudracer – shown at this year’s Triathlon Show.

The Cloudracer is designed to help you go fast safely and comfortably
On are fast becoming one of the world’s premier running shoe companies thanks to thoughtful design and innovative features finding a wider audience. Their Cloudrunner and Cloudracer shoes have been around for a little while now and have gained a loyal following with those who get on with their CloudTec system, which cushions on impact and springs forward on toe off thanks to their trademark rubber cavities on the outsole.
The shoes promote natural running through giving runners the tool with which to increase strength in smaller muscle groups and lessen fatigue in larger muscle groups. This is said to help stability, increase core strength and allow the body to correct itself rather than relying on inserts that manhandle the foot into an unnatural, but supportive position that falls apart when not in place.
The Cloudracer is the latest evolution of these principles. It’s lighter and faster than the rest of the range and has more ‘clouds’ but with a lower profile to really allow you to get up to speed without interruption of your stride. This is combined with a flexible sole, thin, water resistant and airy upper and a wide perforated tongue.
The shoe looks great with the same attention to detail as the others in the range and the slightly strange sensation of running on the cloud sole lugs should be lessened here thanks to the lower height, making them a a good bet for those wanting to get into On’s technology.
We’ll have a full review in the magazine and online soon.
