The RG Winter Ballbuster Duathlon will kick off the winter race season in style this Saturday November 12 and will see the 500 duathletes signed up for the sold-out event take on a tough course that includes the strenuous climb of the iconic Box Hill near Dorking.

This tough but satisfying race is a great way to keep going through winter

The event takes in part of the route to be used next year in the 2012 Olympic cycling road race with the 8-mile loop completed once for the first run leg, three times to make up the 24 mile bike leg and once again for the final 8-mile run.

While notoriously tough, the event does offer some respite in the form of picturesque views across the Surrey countryside and some of the famous cake from the cafe on the summit of Box Hill. The temperature is set for a cool 15 degrees for this weekend’s event so warm winter gear is a must to keep that winter breeze out for anyone taking part or coming down to cheer on friends and family.

John Lunt, MD of event organisers Human Race said: “The RG Active Winter Ballbuster is always really popular and we’re glad to see so many people are eager to take on the challenge. It’s set to be another fantastic event.”

For anyone who missed out on entering the RG Active Winter Ballbuster entries are now open for its sister event the Spring Ballbuster at www.humanrace.co.uk along with the five-race Asics Off Road Duathlon Series.
