Energy balls are versatile. They make an ideal pre or post workout snack and are also ideal for keeping you going when you’re out on a long cycle or walk. And if you’re looking for a healthy treat, they can act as a morning or afternoon snack when you’re on the go.
Wyldsson has designed a recipe that is they claim is easy to make, by providing a ready-to-go mix… you just add water and blend…
Each pack makes up 10 energy balls (30g each), can be kept in the fridge and are freezable.
We have tried a selection of these energy balls. They come in the following flavours:
- Coconut & Dark Chocolate
- Chocolate Orange
- Mint Chocolate
- Lemon & Cocoa
- Curry … we were skeptical, but we gave it a try!
The mixture is designed to be easy to make and with our track record in the kitchen, we’re definitely able to test that claim. It’s true! They really are easy to make. Following the instructions to the letter, water was added, the mixture blended and the energy balls rolled. Simples! Lets go with the four sweet flavours first. We were pleasantly surprised. Each flavour is distinct and they are quite filling so that reduces the risk of all ten disappearing at once. The taste and texture are fabulous, for all four flavours. Then came the curry option. As soon as you switch your mindset from expecting something sweet, like most energy balls, they are surprisingly delicious. As a healthy, savoury snack, they are delicious. As a mid-bike-ride snack, we’ll probably stick to a sweeter option!
