Although sports scientists aren&#039;t unanimous in the best prescription of grip width or technique to result in the best power improvements for swimming via the lat pull down. Technique seen in many gyms can be sketchy at best, but with care and correct technique, the lat pull down can be the best use of gym time for swim-specific improvement. </description>

Seated pulls or bent over rows are a more appropriate exercise for these muscles, however the pulldown is an appropriate exercise for swimmers, but should not be done behind the neck as it can cause issues for many people.</description>
