A new Apple iPhone app from Nike+ should solve the ‘heavy cover’ problem of GPS speed-and-distance monitors.
The app is designed to move from GPS tracking to an accelerometer without missing a beat, so if you run into a built-up area or dense tree cover you won’t lose speed and distance information. The app also lets you map your runs – just tap the screen to see where you are; set challenges for yourself; connect wirelessly to nikeplus.com, and hear mini pep talks from the likes of Lance Armstrong and Paula Radcliffe.
See the app in action here.
It’s compatible with the new iPod touch (fourth generation) as well as earlier iPod touch and iPhone units, but you’ll need to use it on an iPhone to use the map functions. It’s available now from the Apple iTunes App Store for £1.19, and we’ll be bringing you a review of it here on triradar.com soon.
