SOS Rehydrate drink tested, rated and reviewed
£8 for five servings
This new drink powder is designed to activate the sodium/glucose co-transport system in the small intestine.
The WHO-approved theory is that a molecule of sodium is pulled into blood vessels for each molecule of glucose – water, which follows sodium, is then absorbed by osmosis. SOS is a hypotonic drink for fast absorption that includes sodium, potassium, magnesium and sugar as well as citrate and chloride electrolytes.
SOS say all this science means it rehydrates as fast as an IV. We tested the drink’s potency with an early morning, drink-free sweat-out on the turbo and SOS did pep us up afterwards – but not even this made the salty blueberry taste palatable.
