New early-season Big T Triathlon set for May 2014 in Trowbridge

Big T TriHot Chilli Triathlon Club is launching a new and exciting day of triathlon and multi sport and is welcoming the whole local community to get in involved. Trowbridge Swimming Pool/Clarendon College will host the Big T Triathlon on Bank Holiday Monday, 5 May 2014, an event that includes a sprint distance race (400m swim / 25km bike / 5km run) The Big T Triathlon (600m swim / 48km bike / 10km run) and the Little T Aquathlon, a series of junior Aquathlon races for all ages.

Trowbridge Hot Chilli Triathlon Club chairman, Gary Curtis, says the event is a wonderful opportunity to engage the whole community in the sport of triathlon. He said: “After the Olympic success of the Brownlee brothers and some local success, including Hot Chilli Club members at this year’s Age Group World Championships, we are seeing more and more people giving the sport of triathlon a go and joining the Trowbridge Hot Chilli Club”.

The Big T Triathlon event format offers something for everyone, from those completely new to the sport, but wanting a health/fitness challenge, to those more experienced athletes who want a high quality, low cost, local race. The event is also open to relay teams so there is no excuse not to join in the fun, whether that be with a team of workmates raising money for charity or by daring a group of friends to get fit and give it a go.

To support those entering the event, Trowbridge Hot Chilli Tri’s top coaches will be offering free introductory bike/run course recce’s and a race orientation / transition masterclass. If you’re local, and want to take things a step further you can join the Trowbridge Club on a trial basis for free and start to get access to regular coaching and support. There is also the opportunity to take part in the Club’s Damp Dash Winter Aquathlon Race Series with various combined swim/run (Race 1 is on Sunday 10 November).

DC Leisure, Clarendon College and Tribal Triathlon have already offered their full support for the event and Trowbridge Triathlon Club are looking for other local businesses and organisations to get involved either by entering teams or supporting the event village.
