Jersey triathlete Demri Mitchell has called on his community and supporters in a bid to make it to the Gold Coast 2018 commonwealth Games in Australia.
The 19-year-old, who was part of the squad that took Team Gold at the Island Games, has launched a sports crowdfunding campaign on specialist site PledgeSports.org.
PledgeSports.org allows supporters to conrtibute as little or as much as they want to Mitchell’s triathlon career, with the triathlete offering unique rewards in return for those who back his dream to make it to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
He said: “Unfortunately, my wonderful parents, who have funded my love for triathlon, cannot support me and it is at the point where I need to start taking responsibility for my sport.
“Every penny I raise will go towards funding for travel and accommodation for those really important qualification races in the UK.
He added: “Since my coach Nick made me commit to the 2018 Commonwealth Games, I have been swim, biked and run ragged. I have raced all over the UK and been training non-stop, somewhere between 15-25 hours a week, and I have loved every second of it.
“Please help me reach my goal, as this life is too short for regrets!”
