The European Triathlon Union (ETU) has awarded the European Long Distance Triathlon Championship to the Madrid candidacy.
The championship will take place on September 23, sharing the route already used by the Challenge Madrid race in which they swim 3.8 km at the Embalse de Riosequillo in Buitrago del Lozoya, 180 km through the Sierra Madrileña by bicycle, crowning the three ports of Canencia, Morcuera and Rascafria and ending up running a marathon for Madrid Rio with an end in the Puerta del Sol itself, where thousands of spectators will wait.
The entry process, which opened last December, has already attracted athletes from 14 countries and are being snapped up at a super-fast pace.
The organisation will be carried out by the European Federation, the Spanish Federation, and the Madrid Triathlon Federation, in addition to the Challenge Madrid organization itself.
