IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast race to take place Sunday, September 10, 2017; General registration opens today

IRONMAN, a Wanda Sports Holdings company, announced today the return of the IRONMAN® 70.3® Sunshine Coast triathlon to the heart of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on Mooloolaba Beach. After hosting the 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, this iconic race course returns for age-group athletes, and will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

With a spectacular location just steps from the beach, and an amazing surfside transition and finish, Mooloolaba Beach offers the perfect year-round climate and relaxing atmosphere for an ideal race destination. Athletes will tackle a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) ocean swim off of Mooloolaba Beach, followed by a flat and fast 56-mile (90 km) bike course, highlighting the region from country to coast. Athletes will then complete a 13.1-mile (21 km), spectator-lined run course on the Mooloolaba Esplanade along striking shores before reaching the finish in the heart of Mooloolaba – all of which must be completed before an eight-and-a-half hour cutoff time.

IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast will offer 30 slots to the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2, 2018 in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.

General registration for IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast opened today at the website.
