RaceNewForest Confirms Their Full Race Schedule For The 2017 Season
The 2017 season will kick off with SwashBuckler Middle Distance on May 21st, helpful tides again this year mean that this early season event remains in its “proper” place in the schedule. Ideal preparation for anyone planning a Summer Iron Distance, this event features a 56 mile bike course, ensuring eligibility as a qualifying race.
This year’s event will be supported by Precision Hydration.
Bucklers Hard Standard Distance Triathlon will also take place on May 21st with a 1250m swim followed by 40km cycling and an 11km run.
On June 18th the New Forest Standard and Sprint Triathlons will take place, based out of Ellingham Waterski Lake. 2017’s schedule will also feature a duathlon option.
The Gladiator Iron Distance and BoskMan (Long-Middle) will take place on July 2nd,based at Bucklers Hard. The course features a one way swim down the picturesque Beaulieu River followed by typical New Forest cycling and followed by a 26 mile run. The run route has proved popular, passing through the centre of the village seven times, making it spectator-friendly.
BoskMan will sit alongside the Gladiator, it is a great event in its own right and often used as preparation for a summer IronMan event.
For those looking for a slightly shorter challenge, the Bucklers Sprint Triathlon will take place alongside the long distance events and will feature a 500m swim followed by a 20km bike and a 5km run.
August 20th will feature both the New Forest Middle Distance Triathlon and the New Forest Standard Distance Triathlon, based out of Ellingham Waterski Park near Ringwood .
Sandy Balls is unavailable to us due to major development plans so we will be relocating our base to the event’s original home at Moyles Court .The change of venue will simplify logistics for competitors with on-the-day registration options and no overnight racking/morning transport complications.
We hope that bringing both events together will enhance the atmosphere even further and inspire some of the shorter distance competitors to come back and have a crack at the longer race in future years. There are Sprint / Novice options also available.
