Double Olympic Medallist Rebecca Romero MBE says first Ironman “a special achievement”.

An exhausted but delighted Romero, crossed the Ironman UK finishing line in 11.10.17, finishing sixth overall and with a time that qualifies her for the Ironman in Hawaii.

“Having only started training seven months ago, I can’t believe how far I have come in triathlon and it shows that with a methodical approach to training, you can achieve a lot,” added Rebecca. “I am particularly pleased with my swim time (1.09) as this was completely new to me. I just kept it steady and relaxed all the way though.”

As expected, Romero recorded one of the fastest splits for the women’s bike (05:50:34) and said she felt “under pressure” to get a good bike split. “I was going really well on the bike, so after 60K I eased off as I wanted to save something for the run (03:59:09), which I was really worried about as I don’t have a running background and used to detest running!”

Tim Williams of Avalanche Sports Marketing who is distributing ZeroD in the UKĀ  said: “We are all delighted for Rebecca as we know that she has worked really hard to get herself into this position to record a good time. ZeroD is happy to be part of her support team.”

Rebecca raced in a ZeroD vFLEX wetsuit and a pair of iSINGLET and iSHORTS, which are designed for long distance triathlon. is the online home of Triathlon Plus.
