Always Aim High events have closed entries to the 2013 edition of the Snowdonia Slateman.

Always Aim High EventsAlways Aim High events, last Friday closed entries to the 2013 edition of the iconic trail triathlon, the Snowdonia Slateman. The event reached its capacity of 1000 participants almost 5 months prior to the event which takes place on May 19th in Llanberis, North Wales.

The 2012 Snowdonia Slateman triathlon will live long in the memory of local people, and visitors alike, with over 700 competitors and terrestrial TV coverage for what is fast becoming one of Wales’ premier triathlons.

Launched in 2011 the Slateman has grown to be acclaimed as one of the most exciting events on the triathlon calendar, and being held in some of the countries’ most challenging and beautiful environments, the appeal to new entrants and triathletes from across the UK and Europe has been strong for this third edition.

However, the speed in which the event has filled in 2012/3 has surprised even event organisers Always Aim High Events, with Tim Lloyd stating:

“It’s phenomenal really. To think that less than 2 years ago the Slateman was still a dream, and now we are turning people away who want to come and take part, after taking 1000 entries! We have some amazing events on the Always Aim High Events roster these days, but we firmly believe that the Slateman will be one of our foundation events, an iconic triathlon, and grow to be one of the great Welsh sporting classics over the coming years.

“Plans for this year’s event mean that competitors can expect an even better experience in 2013, with details on new features and partners to be released over the coming months.

“2013 will be an incredible year for us. We now have eight events for our growing and loyal followers to take part in. Whether it’s the Slateman, the Island Race, Etape Eryri or the Snowman, we think that we have something for all tri, run, bike and swim enthusiasts. Of course, this is another step-up for us in terms of a business, and will mean that we can look forward to contributing still further to the local economy, supporting local suppliers and contractors, and continue to add to our growing number of staff, thus supporting local employment and ensuring that those employees are given diverse and exciting employment skills. 2012 was great, but 2013 will be even better!”
