Smith Optics Pivlock V2 sunglasses tested, rated and reviewed.
Smith Optics might not be as well known in the UK as abroad, but if the Pivlock V2 is anything to go by, the American company soon will be. Each pair of sunglasses comes with three sets of interchangeable lenses – our test set features mirrored ‘Super Platinum’ (light grey), clear and red variations.
Clarity of vision is absolutely superb and the rimless design is perfect for triathlon with no annoying frame to block your view in the aero tuck. The semi wrap-around design gives excellent coverage with no weepy eyes on fast descents and there was no steam build-up unless stopped after a hard effort.
Comfort was excellent, they stayed in place and are ultra light weight too. To swap to another lense, all you have to do is pull out the nose bridge, which has three width adjustment options, and rotate the arms to 45 degrees to release. Then it’s the same in reverse to secure the new lense.
Pros: The rimless design is perfect for triathlon
Cons: Price is slightly steep
