We review the new Soleus GPS Fit 1.0 Watch.

Soleus claim that the FIT 1.0 has everything you need and nothing you don’t – and in a package that is such good value, it’s hard to argue.

With GPS for accurate readings, you get speed, pace, distance, auto-lap and calories-burned functionality as well as water resistance to 30m, and a built-in rechargeable battery.

Setting up the watch was a breeze and though the read-out isn’t quite as clear as top-end watches, there were no problems with legibility. There’s also a handy charge indicator.

What it doesn’t do is heart rate, data upload or interval timers. It’s also clearly made on a budget and is a bit plasticky, but on the other hand, it’s fairly small, unobtrusive and very light.

In our tests, the Soleus Fit 1.0 took significantly longer to find a GPS signal than its Garmin counterpart, but tracked the same once up and running. Data recall is good too – as far as on-the-watch readouts go – and overall it’s a fantastic basic GPS running watch for the money.
