We put the new Mizuno Wave Sayonara trainers through their paces.

Mizuno 2

The new Wave Sayonara is the first of Mizuno’s range to use the company’s U4ic midsole, which is said to be 30 per cent lighter than its AP+ compound but with the same level of impact protection.

Like all of Mizuno’s Wave shoes, the Sayonara’s sole has an internal plastic support that gives a feeling of springiness on push-off and helps to take a little sting out of hard surfaces.

Built for neutral runners, the shoes are comfy and supportive even over longer runs, their light weight of 263g (UK 9.5) helping you to maintain a high cadence.

The 10mm heel-toe drop and flexible forefoot also make them a great choice for midfoot runners who still like the security of a full heel.
