Having been a Service Manager, Warranty Manager, and a MTB Race Team Director, Lee Hardy, the man behind thecompletecyclist.com identified a real need amongst Triathletes and Cyclists of all levels to develop their knowledge of bicycle mechanics.

Although technical training is only part of what thecompletecyclist.com offers it is a subject that Lee feels particularly passionate about. “As an Advanced Cycle Technician by trade, I am keen to pass on the knowledge I have accrued over the past decade and give riders the metaphorical tools they need to be able to maintain service and repair their own bikes with confidence”.

“It started when a friend of mine entered Ride London but was pulled out due to a mechanical issue along with a large number of other riders unable to complete the event. Most of these mechanicals could have been avoided had they been able to better prepare prior to the event”.

Currently thecompletecyclist.com is working with a number of Triathlon Clubs around the UK to deliver tailored events. “It has been great fun working with clubs, identifying what they need and establishing any clear gaps in knowledge, this starts with a survey that is passed to members to fill in well in advance of an event ensuring that will get the absolute best experience”. Also on offer are 3 independent courses for riders who aren’t part of a club or who want to take part as an individual. Again these are at various locations and details can be found on the events page.

The Essential Bike Maintenance Course teaches students about their bikes anatomy, safety checking, roadside repairs and on the fly adjustments. The Bike Servicing Course then takes them further with their knowledge, servicing brakes, gears and headset and basic wheel truing. And then there’s the flagship course, the Primotech Academy, a 5 week (5 x 3hr) or 15hour Bicycle Servicing and Repair Course which covers a full strip down and rebuild, hub servicing and other in-depth servicing tasks.

“I believe the 3 courses on offer represent excellent value for money the knowledge gained during these sessions can ensure primarily the safety of the bike along with its serviceability but also that the rider is getting the most from their bike, which in turn can really help with performances”.

Utilising their “Pop Up Classroom” which consists of bikes, tools, consumables and training aids thecompletecyclist.com brings the training to you meaning very little organisation to worry about.

If you are a member of a club, team or organisation then Lee would love to hear from you and help build the perfect training package to deliver to your members. Prices start from as little as £35pp with great incentives and discounts for group bookings.
